Marcus Oatman

Marcus Oatman is a seasoned attorney who recently joined PE Law, LLC, bringing over a decade of public defense experience across Oregon. His practice focuses primarily on juvenile dependency law, where he represents both parents and children through every stage of the process—from shelter hearings and jurisdictional trials to permanency hearings and termination of parental rights.

Before joining PE Law, Marcus served for over ten years with public defense providers, most recently at a Senior Attorney at Elkhorn Public Defender in Vale, Oregon, and previously as the Supervising Attorney. He litigated complex cases involving civil commitments and major felonies. His earlier roles include positions at Stoddard & Denison, Public Defense Services of Lane County, and the 22nd Circuit Defenders, where he represented indigent clients in a wide range of criminal, juvenile, and civil matters.

Marcus’s leadership in Oregon’s legal community includes serving as President of both the Jefferson County and Malheur County Bar Associations. He is currently on the executive committee for the Oregon State Bar’s Criminal Section and OCLDA’s juvenile executive committee. He also has a background in financial litigation and risk management from his prior work at Wells Fargo.

He brings a client-centered, trial-tested approach to every case, guided by a deep commitment to equity and justice.
